Me Anga Whakamua - Facing the Future

Tuia 250  –  Dual History and Shared Future

This exhibition opened at The Hihiaua Cultural Center in October, 2020 celebrates the personal reflections by tangata whenua at the Tuia 250 event. The book, including essays by Justice Hetaraka, Alison Joans and Te Warihi Hetaraka was published in 2020 (contact Diane for copies) and the exhibition toured to The NZ Portrait Gallery in March 2025.

These portraits are a direct response to the memories and hopes for the future in response to 250 years since the ‘First Encounters’ of Māori and Captain Cook.
